Public Launch of Sony’s Audio Control API

Brief

To release Sony’s Audio control API, to enable developers and third party partners, to use the API to develop apps that could control Sony’s home audio hardware. The ultimate aim was to be able to integrate Sony devices into smart hub development, allowing end users to manage Sony devices as part of their smarthome solution.

Background

Sony wanted to be able to compete with other homeaudio products that were smarthome compatible. Therefore they needed to open up their Audio Control API so that it could integrated with the like of Samsung’s SmartThings. To enable developers to use the API we also created a set of tutorials.
